Aphasia – Mid-Atlantic Aphasia Conference Get Together

Our organization is “MAAC“, Mid-Atlantic Aphasia Conference. We are individuals who have aphasia. Aphasia is a language disorder that impairs the expression and understanding of spoken language, reading and writing. It occurs most often from a stroke but can occur from brain injury, brain surgeries, diseases, and Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). This condition affects a person’s ability to communicate, but does not affect their intellect.

Our group realizes that many people with aphasia are not aware that there are many other people like themselves. We decided to contact people, like yourself, and invite you to a social meeting, so we all can begin to find that there are other people just like ourselves. Everyone will be able to meet others and have an opportunity to discuss one another’s communication situations. We can also learn positive ways to handle conversations with other people.

Also, we would like to invite your spouse/friend who lives with you or works with you, so they get to understand what others, like themselves, go through on a daily basis. These are people that are living not only their own lives but also with your life too.

So please meet us on June 23, 2024 at 1:00PM ET to 4:30PM ET for aphasia information, water/soda, snacks, “GET THE WORD OUT!! APHASIA!!” wristbands..
