Staff Registered Nurse

Broadway House for Continuing Care is the only Long Term Care facility in New Jersey serving individuals with HIV/AIDS.  Recent awards include a 5 star Quality Rating from CMS and National Accreditation for Excellence in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI).

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated person who is committed to providing person-centered care to our residents and work in a collaborative manner with our staff and residents in our unique and caring facility.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Maintains ongoing communication with Supervisor/Unit Manager regarding resident and staff concerns.

  • Responsible for providing a smooth and efficient change of shift.  Gives report to oncoming shift detailing current status of resident including physical, psychological, and emotional concerns. Responsible for providing a smooth and efficient change of shift.  Gives report to oncoming shift detailing current status of resident including physical, psychological, and emotional concerns.

  • Assures that controlled substances count is completed and accurate at the change of shift.  Notifies /Unit Manager/Supervisor of any discrepancy per facility policy.

  • Responsible to remain on unit until all change of shift duties have been completed which include, but are not limited to, narcotic count, walking rounds, maintenance of medication cart, medication room, and nurse station.

  • Responsible for completion of assignments for LPN’s and CNA’s on unit.

  • Responsible for all procedures related to peripheral, central and parenteral therapy.  Monitors care of site, termination of the devise and documentation of all pertinent events and observations.

  • As necessary, may provide direct resident care, administer medications and perform treatments.

  • Assists the Unit Manager in his/her management of the unit and assumes responsibility for unit in their absence.

  • Responsible for the initial and readmission assessments on all residents on assigned unit.

  • Responsible for initiating, implementing and revising the nursing care plan and discharge plan for residents on assigned unit.

  • Assists in implementation of nursing procedures/practice and assists in evaluation of same.  Participates in staff development programs.

  • Responsible for the evaluation and ongoing assessment of residents on assigned unit.

  • Evaluates work performance of Licensed Practical Nurses and Nursing Assistants in terms of resident care. 

  • Evaluates and assists in orientation of new hires.

  • Documents accurately in the resident’s record and completes quarterly reviews in a timely manner.

  • Responds to all emergency situations following appropriate notifications.  Initiates transfer of resident to acute setting as condition warrants.

  • Responsible for the development of nursing personnel on assigned unit.  Provides leadership and assistance to employees.  Acts as a role model and resources person to staff.

  • Assures timely initiation of MDS and may conduct IDCP conference in absence of Unit Manager.

  • Maintains the dignity and confidentially of the residents and serves as their advocate.

  • Exhibits creativity in initiating and implementing plan of care for residents who have been assessed for being at risk or potential for falls, elopement, self-harm, and behavior concerns.  


  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in the State of New Jersey
  • At least one year of acute/critical care experience preferred
  • The ability to work flexible hours
