Q & A for Caregivers & Parents: Boundary Setting with Others @ Finding Your Individuality | Watchung | New Jersey | United States

Finding Your Individuality is a space for people to communicate and learn about healthy boundaries, relationships, communication, decision making, sexual health, gender, sexual orientation, abuse & prevention, and supports for survivors. We deliver individual and group education and counseling to individuals across the lifespan and specialize in programming for youth and adults with learning differences, such as intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We recognize the importance in working in partnership with parents and caregivers to address the sexuality related questions, concerns, and interests that can arise from youth.  Throughout the year we host informational sessions with topics suggested by caregivers and parents. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and concerns around the topic to guide the discussion! We hope you will join us for our December event!

Boundary Setting with Others
December 13, 2017 at 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Setting boundaries with others is an important life skill to understand and put into action. Recognizing the difference between healthy and unhealthy boundaries may require the support of caregivers and parents, particularly for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This session is designed for parents and caregivers to explore the concept of boundary setting with the goal of helping youth and adults they are supporting to recognize healthy boundaries as well as boundary violations (such as nonconsensual touching, personal space invasion, sexual violence and other forms of abuse). We will provide examples of strategies caregivers can use to communicate about boundaries.

Registration is required. $10 registration includes light refreshment.
